For Campus
“As university chancellor, I am particularly proud of the success WCER has had in its collaborative approach both on campus and with other research institutions, and in its efforts to train the many graduate students who have learned research techniques from the center’s leading investigators. Training tomorrow’s researchers and educators is vital to the mission of the university, even at a research-oriented facility such as WCER.”
UW–Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank
As a part of the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s School of Education, the Wisconsin Center for Education Research is a committed member of the campus community. Its grant-funded research projects bring more than $65 million annually to the university and allow the center to operate without university funding.
WCER seeks out and welcomes collaborative partnerships within UW–Madison and the UW System. Its principal investigators come from more than 20 academic departments across campus, and WCER collaborates with departments as diverse as biomedical engineering, computer sciences, counseling psychology, the Robert M. La Follette School of Public Affairs, occupational therapy, mathematics, linguistics, anthropology and medicine.
WCER offers numerous opportunities for undergraduate and graduate scholars to become involved in its research and projects. The center offers several training programs for graduate students interested in careers in education science.
In addition, WCER hosts dozens of lectures, panels, and other events throughout the year for members of the campus community. These forums encourage intellectual discussion and learning on education-related issues.
