Daniela Tovar

PA-WIDA

I'm Daniela Tovar, and my journey began in the heart of Cali, Colombia, where the vibrant rhythms of salsa danced into my soul. While I cherish the moves on the dance floor, I also have a deep love for hiking, exploring the beauty of nature one trail at a time. Before my American adventure, I proudly wore the colors of the Colombian national team of Tae Kwon Do. Over a decade ago, I set foot on U.S. soil and instantly became a Chicagoan by heart, drawn to the city's energy and diversity. My educational journey led me to DePaul University, where I earned my Bachelor's in Elementary Education, and a double minor in Bilingual Education and English as a Second Language. This foundation has fueled my passion for advocacy, particularly for students, families, and communities often overlooked by the education system. Currently, I'm pursuing my M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction: Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I'm dedicated to exploring new horizons in the world of education. As a WIDA Español Research Project Assistant, I find immense joy in contributing to diverse projects that bridge languages and cultures, working toward a more inclusive educational landscape.
